Happy New Year!!!

Welcome to 2010! Hope everyone is geared up and ready for a stellar year! Did you make any resolutions? Other than wanting to be healthier and happier, I'm going to try and post a card, 3-D item, sketch, etc. every day. I'm also going to try and take a photo a day in 2010. I started off with great intentions in 2009 and made into April, but then fizzled out...I think of the friends that were trying to do the same, only one made it all the way through - KUDOS to her!

So, here is my first card of 2010:
This card is a complete and TOTAL CASE of the card my friend Robin made back in December of 2009. The only difference is that I didn't have the black paper she used on her card, so I improvised and made my own. Other than that, the layout, the stamp and the colours are exactly the same. What can I say? It was a GREAT card!!! You can check out Robin's blog here. I'll bet you find some inspiration of your own!

So...I stamped the image in Basic Black on a piece of 3 X 3 inch Whisper White Cardstock and matted it on a piece of 3 1/4 X 3 1/4 inch piece of Crushed Curry Cardstock.

To make the shiny black background paper, I used a stamp from the soon to be available "Vintage Vogue" set and stamped it randomly in Versamark all over a piece of 8 1/2 X 11 Basic Black Cardstock. I used an embossing powder that I've had for a while (don't remember where I got it) to add the sparkle. The black piece is trimmed to 1 1/2 X 4 1/4 inches. I only made six cards, so I have some left over...will have to find something fun to do with it!

I matted the black cardstock onto the Bermuda Bay Cardstock which was cut to 4 X 5 1/4 inches and then added the image panel. I wrapped the Bermuda Bay Ribbon first and then the Crushed Curry. I love that the polka dots are only one side because it's like getting two ribbons for the price of one!!!

After I wrapped the ribbon around the Bermuda Bay Cardstock, I matted it on a piece of 4 1/8 X 5 3/8 inch piece of Basic Black Cardstock before adhering it to the Whisper White card base.

The finishing touch was the two ribbon knots, again in Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry.

What do you think?
