ATC Tuesday - Love

Today's ATC has already made it's way to the front of a card...which is why I can't retake the photo to fix the blurriness - OOPS!!!

Today, DH and I celebrate our 19th anniversary. Pretty good in today's day and age where the divorce rate is probably higher than the marriage rate! Especially good when people tell me I don't look old enough to have been married for 19 years...I love those people!

So, I used a retired set on this one, but that's OK. There's lots of other lovey-dovey sets in the catalogue, but I liked this one, because it was just PERFECT for an ATC. The set is called "A Happy Heart" and since my heart is happy today, I thought it was fitting.

I used my markers to colour directly on the image using my Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Night of Navy markers. Then I huffed and I puffed and I stamped the image on Whisper White. Of course *sigh* it was crooked, so I had to hand trim it and my trimming was actually straight for a change - YAY! I matted the stamped image on Cherry Cobbler and then on Early Espresso. My ATC is 2 1/2" X 3 1/2" and the Whisper White layer is slightly smaller.

I borrowed my DS' fingers to make the little bow, but I'm seeing my FIL this weekend and will ask him to make me one of those cool wood bow makers that have been floating around.

What do you think?

STAMPS: A Happy Heart

Sunny Sunday Sketch - Week 14

Welcome to another Sunny Sunday Sketch! With all the insanity that's been going on (we're remodelling) things have DEFINITELY been hectic and my posting has been sporadic at best! However, one thing I didn't want to stop was the Sunny Sunday Sketch. So...for the next little while, you can be assured that this post will, at least, be consistent. Thanks in advance for bearing with me!

Here's our sketch for this week:

I based it on the card on the right:

but flipped the card so that it was horizontal instead of vertical.

3-D Thursday - Sunny Garden Box

Today's 3-D Thursday is a whole set of goodness! Four cards and a box in which to put them.

Here's the closed box:
Now, I did add an image matted on some punched pieces after I took the picture. I don't really like it, so I think I need to change the colours up or something...

Here's the box open:
I just used a length of Poppy Parade Ribbon to tie it closed. It acts sort of like a belly band.

Here are the cards:
There are four cards in the box, 2 of each design. I'm just LOVING this new Sunny Garden DSP!

Here's the envie:

If I've learned ANYTHING from my Caroline, it's that there should NEVER be a NAKED ENVIE!

What do you think?

STAMPS: Flower Fancy
INKS: Cajun Craze, Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait, Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green

ATC Tuesday - Define Your Life

Here's another ATC using one of the Define Your Life stamps. A good friend is going through some pretty difficult stuff right now, so I thought I'd remind her how awesome she really is!

The ATC is pretty simple, but it's effective:

I stamped the words in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White and then did some layering using Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette. The DSP is retired Razzleberry Lemonade.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Define Your Life

PAPERS: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette and Rich Razzleberry Cardstock; Razzleberry Lemonade DSP (retired)

Manic Monday - Better late than NEVER!!!

Well, as manic goes, the past few weeks have certainly been that! There's been a surprise visit to my sister, going back to work with my Caroline (YAY!) and house renovations - PHEW! I can't wait for the kids to go back to school...maybe then things will settle down - LOL!

Today's Manic Monday is brought to you by Bella - it's Christmas time!!!

I stamped her on some fancy cardstock my friend gave me (I think it's PTI) and coloured her in using Copic markers.

She's matted on Real Red and Wild Wasabi Cardstock and I added a SU! Basic Rhinestone for just a little bit of bling - WOW!

What do you think?

Sunny Sunday Sketch - Week 13

Welcome to another Sunny Sunday Sketch! My sketch is a simple one today as I try to get back into the swing of things. Hoping it will jumpstart your week with some creativity!

Here's the sketch:
And here's my take on it:

I had some Blushing Bride Cardstock on my table and used that as my jumping off point. I consulted my Colour Coach and chose Sahara Sand and Perfect Plum to go with Blushing Bride.

I stamped the main image from Elements of Style in Perfect Plum on Whisper White and hand cut it. I then stamped "En Français" in Blushing Bride on my Blushing Bride Cardstock and adhered it to my Sahara Sand card base. The floral image was adhered to the Blushing Bride layer and I added a few Basic Rhinestones for some bling. The sentiment from Watercolour Trio (which is only available till August 31st) was stamped in Perfect Plum on Whisper White and punched out using the Large Oval Punch. It was matted on a piece of Perfect Plum punched with the Scalloped Oval Punch.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Elements of Style, En Français and Watercolour Trio
INKS: Blushing Bride and Perfect Plum
PAPERS: Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Perfect Plum and Sahara Sand
ACCESSORIES: Basic Rhinestones, Punches and Stampin' Dimensionals

Simple Saturday Note of Thanks

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to join Cindy in the chat room over at SUDSOL. If you're a demonstrator, you really should try SUDSOL out! There's a free two-week trial button over there on the left hand side of my blog. Give it a shot, you won't regret it!

When Cindy posted the sketch for the challenge, I knew it would be PERFECT for my simple Saturday card. I'm sure you'll agree!

I started off with a Pear Pizzazz base and then added a 4 X 5 1/4" piece of Sunny Garden DSP. I made three panels using Peach Parfait and a different sheet from the Sunny Garden DSP pack. My sentiment was stamped on Whisper White and then matted on a piece of Peach Parfait. The finishing touch were the darling little Basic Rhinestones.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Kind Thanks

Today's fabulous finds is brought to you courtesy of Lydia (who is the fabulous face of SCS on Facebook). Last week, she posted a most awesome card, which you can see here. And that led me to Stamp Owl's Blog and her FABULOUS REBUS cards. You can see those, here.

There's a set coming up in the Holiday Mini called "Jolly Bingo Bits" which I figure I can use in a Rebus card...now I just have to order it - LOL! Of course...then I might get hooked on those and need to hunt down some Rebus stamps - uh oh!!!

Here's Stamp Owl's latest Rebus Card:

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Whimsical Wednesday Punch Art

A little while ago, my friend Di decided to host a punch art swap. I hemmed and hawed about the whole thing and she finally managed to brow beat me convinced me to join it a little while ago. When I saw this image on Crystal's blog, I knew I had to use it!!!

So, here's my version (in pink and green):

Because I only had a few green "eyes" from the Sweet Pea felt kit, I had to make my little froggies in two different colours so I could use some of the pink "eyes".

So, I used Old Olive to stamp the grass from Inspired by Nature on Whisper White paper. Then, like Crystal, I sponged Not Quite Navy all over the background to create the sky/water.

What do you think?

ATC Tuesday - Vintage Hand Crafted

So far, this is my FAVOURITE ATC!

It was smooshed and wrinkled and inked and distressed - LOVE!

I started off with the idea that I REALLY needed to use my spiral punch! I've had it for at least 2 years and I think I may have used it once or twice. Isn't it amazing the things we THINK we need and then they never get used. Right Diana??? I won't tell you what my friend Di THOUGHT she needed, because (at least for the time being) I managed to talk her out of it.

So, with the spiral punch in mind, I reached for the newsprint DSP because I knew that at least a couple of the sheets had a notebook type design on them. I used the spiral punch first and then took my scissors to the edges to get that distressed, beat up look. I did the same with the Basic Black and Very Vanilla pieces.

I also did some tearing and sponging with Old Olive Ink and then used Basic Black Ink and the large floral image from Elements of Style (have I mentioned that I just LOVE this set?) to add the flowers to the notebook paper.

The next step was to stamp the hummingbird image in Old Olive on Very Vanilla and hand cut it. I also stamped two of the images from Tiny Tags on Very Vanilla and punched them out. I added some sponging in Old Olive, attached some hemp twine and then adhered them to the ATC using glue dots. That extra little touch was provided by the Mini Library Clip.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Elements of Style, Tiny Tags
INKS: Basic Black, Old Olive
PAPERS: Very Vanilla and Basic Black Cardstock; Newsprint DSP
ACCESSORIES: Punches, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Library Clip

Manic Monday with House Mouse

OK, we're trying to get back on track here - YIKES!!!

Today is Manic Monday and I've got a House Mouse image/card for you.

Last weekend, I got to hang out at Di's house. We had a blast! Our friend Suzanne was there too and we crafted into the wee hours. This is the reason we were up so late:

It took me the better part of three hours to get this the way I wanted it and by the end of it all, my eyes were just about crossed!!!

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on some fancy cardstock that Suzanne brought back from the States (I think it's PTI). Then I coloured...and coloured...and coloured some more.

And at 3:30 a.m., I mounted the image on Old Olive Cardstock and called it a day!

What do you think?

STAMPS: House Mouse
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black
PAPERS: PTI (?) White and Old Olive (Stampin' UP!)

Sunny Sunday Sketch - Week 12

Hello friends! Where have I been?

The short answer is: BUSY!

The long answer is: I (as well as my monkeys) took an impromptu trip to visit to Montreal to visit my sister and her family. It was only impromptu in that it happened a week earlier than it was supposed to as we were supposed to go this coming week, leaving on Tuesday.

So, because the trip was kind of unplanned, I didn't have time to pre-create any goodies for you to see on my blog - oh the shame!!!

However, not wanting to leave you without a Sunny Sunday Sketch this week, I am posting "better late than never". Of course, because it is "better late than never", I don't have a card to go with my sketch.

Here's the sketch:
I'm hoping you'll find it inspiring enough to play along this week!

Today's Fabulous Find is discovering you can put an ATC on a card! Yeah OK, I know it's really nothing new...too bad! It's my blog - MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Anyway, I LURVED my Tuesday ATC so much, I decided to keep the fun pattern going and turn it into a card - YAY!

It features all the same colours and stamps as Tuesday's ATC as well as Baja Breeze base.

Whimsical Wednesday Spotlight

Today's Whimsical Wednesday card features a technique called "Spotlighting".

Spotlighting is a technique that involves colouring only a certain portion of a stamped image and then highlighting it by popping it off the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

For today's card, I used Flower Fancy which is a 2-step Stampin' set. What this means is that to get the full effect of the stamped image, you need to stamp each part of it in two different colours.

For this card, I started off with the Sahara Sand Top Note Die Cut. I have NO idea why it was sitting on my table...but there it was and I decided I should use it! After that I went to the ATC (junkie!) that was sort of in my head. I stamped the stem/flower in Sahara Sand and then stamped it again in Melon Mambo and Regal Rose. I punched out the flower portion using my 1 1/4" circle punch and then punched out a Melon Mambo circle using my 1 3/8" circle punch. This piece was adhered to the front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I tied a length of Melon Mambo ribbon (retired into a knot and then wrapped it around the ATC and adhering it to the back.

I adhered the ATC to the Top Note Die Cut and then adhered it to the card base which is Pink Pirouette stamped with Pink Pirouette Ink.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Flower Fancy, Priceless
INKS: Sahara Sand, Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green
PAPERS: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand

ATC Tuesday - Our Journey

It's time for another ATC!!! This is SO all Heather's fault...I can't stop making these things!

Today's ATC features the stamp set "In a Word" which is in the Summer Mini and only available till August 31st. So...if you love it, now's the time to get it!!!

I started off with a colour combo challenge...somewhere. I find them all over the place and then can never remember where they were - OOPS! Or...as my kids would say, "my bad". Actually, they don't say that, because they know how much I absolutely DESPISE that expression.

Anyway, I digress...

I stamped the swirls from Priceless in Basic Grey and Cajun Craze and then added some Cajun Craze with a sponge over the front of the card. I stamped the word "journey" using my Basic Grey and Cajun Craze markers with the direct to rubber technique. It was stamped on Whisper White and punched out using the Scalloped Oval Punch. I matted it on a piece of Basic Grey punched with my Wide Oval Punch. I found the little suitcase charm in my stash and figured it just PERFECT for this ATC, so I stacked 2 Stampin' Dimensionals and adhered it to the front of the card.

The finishing touch is the Basic Grey Ribbon (also only available till August 31st) tied in a knot and wrapped around.

What do you think?

STAMPS: In a Word, Priceless
INKS: Basic Grey, Cajun Craze
PAPERS: Whisper White, Basic Grey, Cajun Craze
ACCESSORIES: Markers, Ribbon, Punches, Stampin' Dimensionals

Manic Monday with Bella Stamps

Today's Manic Monday card features Bella Stamps. From the moment I saw "No Fair Girl", I knew I had to have her!!! I have been known (once or twice) to pout and stamp my feet, so she was perfect to add to my collection!

Here she is:
I stamped her because I missed my friend Michelle's birthday! Well, I didn't really MISS it (I wished her a happy birthday on Facebook), but I didn't send her a card. So, since little miss was sitting in my crafting area, I thought she'd be perfect!

No Fair Girl is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured using Copic Markers. I matted her on Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo before adhering her to the front of the card.

Inside I stamped: I missed your birthday. CUTE!

What do you think?

STAMPS: Bella
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black
PAPERS: Stampin' UP's Whisper White, Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo
ACCESSORIES: Copic Markers, Stampin' UP! Punches

And here's my take on it:

Simple Saturday Anniversary

Last Saturday, my grand aunt and grand uncle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Now, I could spend this entire post enlightening you as to why they're grand and not great, but this is a stamping blog - LOL! Suffice to say that the term "grand" uncle and aunt is correct in this case.

I clearly wasn't paying attention to the calendar and missed sending them a card to arrive before their actual anniversary. So, I whipped one up real quick and popped it in the mail. Hopefully, it won't take too long to get to Nova Scotia.

My Caroline ROCKS because she gave me the stamp set that allowed me to make the card:

FAST AND FABULOUS!!! This is a level 2 Hostess Set and it really is Fast and Fabulous! It's a two step stamping set that allows you to create FABULOUS cards for any occasion and you can create them FAST!

I also used a sentiment from the Level 3 Hostess Set called Occasional Quotes on the front of the card and it was done...just like that!

What do you think?

STAMPS: Fast and Fabulous (Level 2 Hostess Set) and Occasional Quotes (Level 3 Hostess Set)
INK: Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink

BLOG CANDY WINNER!!!!!

WOOHOO!!!! Thanks for reminding me about the blog candy!

Well, here's the deal...14 people left comments, but some didn't follow the rules and pick a favourite. The random.org generator gave me the #9, so I counted down from the top using only the posts where rules were followed and landed on this comment:

Heather said:
  • my fave would have to be the inchies. although i also really liked the ATC's from yesterday's post, too. :) but i've always been rather partial to mini's. :)

So, that means Heather is the winner of the blog candy!!

Heather, please contact me at appleblossomwhiskey@gmail.com so that I can get this goodness off to you!

Want another chance to win some blog candy? Stay tuned!

Fabulous Finds Friday!

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday Finds! This week, I'm featuring PUNCH ART!

Earlier this week, I found this fabulous card on Lynn Pratt's Blog:

Honestly? How darling are those penguins??? My friend Di is hosting a Punch Art Swap over on SplitCoast Stampers, so when I saw these, I immediately thought of her! Of course, I have ANOTHER idea for a card, so I might just have to take two spots and use this too!

And what about this:
Absolutely adorable, right??? I found this little froggy on Crystal's Blog.

If you're a big fan of punch art, you can also check out Angie's Blog!

Thanks for visiting today and Happy Stampin'!

3-D Thursday - Newsprint and Butterflies

OK, first - YIKES! Where does the time go??? My plan was to set this to post automatically this morning, but yesterday got away from me, so it's here, but not as early as I'd like it to be.

Second - I KNOW you're getting sick of looking at this Newsprint Paper and I have good news for you there! I have new paper on the way - WOOT!!!

Now, on to today's 3-D project:

During my surfing this week, I came across this box, but it was a paid tutorial that I thought I could figure out for myself, so I did!!! My base is Basic Black Cardstock and I added the Newsprint DSP to the front panels. I'm part of a "Grab Bag" swap over on Split Coast Stampers and every month, I receive cards from other stampers. July was my month to "host", which means I send out packages of goodness to the three other participants in the group and they in turn create cards with the goodness that I send. One of the participants sent me a card using the Newsprint DSP that I sent and combined it with Orange and Yellow. Not a bad combination, so I used it on my box.

I punched out bits and pieces in Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight to accent the box and if you look REALLY closely, you'll see that I used some Champagne Mist Ink to add some pizzazz. The finishing touch was a belly band.

What do you think?

STAMPS: None
INK: Champagne Mist, Pumpkin Pie
PAPERS: Basic Black, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Cardstock; Newsprint DSP

Whimsical Wednesday Punched Posies

Welcome to another Whimsical Wednesday! Hope your week is going well.

Here is this week's card:
Last week's Whimsical Wednesday card produced an extra piece of Bravo Burgundy since I didn't already have a scrap in my scrap bag. I went to my Colour Coach to discover that River Rock and Baja Breeze go beautifully with Bravo Burgundy. Wouldn't you agree?

I stamped my flowers and butterfly in River Rock, Baja Breeze and Bravo Burgundy and then either punched them out or hand cut them. The River Rock flower was adhered using a Stampin' Dimensional and the Butterfly was adhered using a rolled up glue dot. I hand drew the Butterfly antennae using a glitter gel pen.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Punched Posies (Level 2, Hostess Set available till Aug. 31st)
INK: Baja Breeze, Bravo Burgundy, River Rock
PAPERS: Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Bravo Burgundy and River Rock Cardstock; Newsprint DSP
ACCESSORIES: Baja Breeze Ribbon (retired), Stampin' Dimensionals and Glue Dots

ATC Tueday- Just a Little Note

When I got the idea for this ATC, I was thinking I would use it as the focal point on a card, but then I decided that it was just too cute on it's own. Plus the "just a little note" kind of meant that it had to stay small. Don't you think?

I used Cherry Cobbler and River Rock Ink on this one, thanks to colours that the Colour Coach suggested. Do you have you Colour Coach yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Let me know you want one and I'll be happy to order it for you!

The images from the Apple Blossoms Set (Level 2, Hostess) were stamped on Whisper White and matted on River Rock. The next layer is Marina Mist with the bottom layer being another piece of River Rock.

What do you think?

Manic Monday with My Favourite Things

Today's rubber whore post is brought to you by MFT Stamps.

I won this set in a blog hop quite some time ago and this is the first time it's seen ink! It seems I'm pretty lucky to have it, because I was just at the site and it's nowhere to be found. The stamp set also features several "text messages" such as :) , 2 cool and c u l 8 r.

Here's my Manic Monday ATC card:

I'm sure some people have heard of "Calling Cards". No, I don't mean the ones that you load up with cash to make phone calls. I mean the ones that people often used "back in the day" to let people know they had visited. I learned of them when I was much younger and watched to movie trilogy "North and South". Man that Patrick Swayze was H.O.T. But...I digress.

For today's project, I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured the image with Copic Markers. My girl was matted on Chocolate Chip Cardstock and then again on Melon Mambo Cardstock. My little extra touch was the length of Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon (retired) sandwiched between the Chocolate Chip and Melon Mambo layers.

What do you think?

STAMPS: My Favourite Thinks
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black
PAPERS: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Melon Mambo Cardstock

We Interrupt your Regular Sunny Sunday Sketch Challenge...

...to bring you a SUDSOL blog hop!!!

SUDSOL Blog Tour

If you arrived from Pam's Blog, you're in the right spot - WELCOME!

I became a SUDSOL member when I first joined Stampin' UP! last year and have found it an invaluable resource! The patterns library alone is worth EVERY penny! These days, you can find me hosting the Chat and Challenge twice a month, where we chat in our very own chat room and make cards based on sketches or inspiration. Need a class in a hurry? Just access the Class and Workshop Planners. Demonstrators like to share, so you'll find LOTS of information there. Need a flyer for a special event? I'll bet one of the demonstrators on SUDSOL has created one already - just check out the Advertising and Marketing section!

Want some SPECIAL inspiration? Check out my gallery!

All my samples today feature one of my FAVOURITE sets! It was in the Occasions Mini and I was SO happy to see it make the transition into the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog! It's FOX AND FRIENDS!!! I've also used several of the sentiments from the set Short and Sweet.

Here is my first card:

It features the fox stamped in Cajun Craze on Whisper White Cardstock and matted on a 2 3/8" scalloped circle punched from Cajun Craze Cardstock. Cajun Craze is the PERFECT colour for my little fox friend! The sentiment was stamped in the same colour, also on Whisper White Cardstock and matted on Cajun Craze punched using the Modern Label Punch. My card base is Crumb Cake (formerly known as Kraft) Cardstock. I added a length of hemp twine around the top.

My next cards feature the same punches allowing you to duplicate them easily at a card class.

This card features the little lion from the set:

I stamped him using the direct to rubber technique, which means I coloured directly on the rubber image using my markers - in this case Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze. My card base is Pumpkin Pie and I used another length of Hemp Twine, tying it around the side this time.

My next card uses the whale:

and the sentiment "wish big" because it just seemed appropriate - LOL! Wouldn't you agree? Our whale is stamped in Pacific Point (one of many returning In Colours from previous years) on Whisper White Cardstock and matted on a 2 3/8" scalloped circle of Bashful Blue. My card base is Pacific Point and features a tied piece of 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon. This card is already winging its way across the country to a special little boy who had a birthday yesterday - hope he likes it!

Next up is my favourite:

The TURTLE! Isn't he just darling? He's stamped in Old Olive on Whisper White and matted on a 2 3/8" scalloped circle. I used my Stamping Sponges to add a little Old Olive Ink around the edges of the white circle. My card base is Certainly Celery and I added a length of 5/8" Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon tied in a bow. Did you know that Certainly Celery and Old Olive are a "Dynamic Duo". You can learn all about Dynamic Duos on the Colour Coach.

My last two cards are meant for baby:

and feature the adorable monkey from Fox and Friends and the "welcome baby" sentiment from Short and Sweet. This first card is for baby boy and features the monkey stamped in Baja Breeze on Whisper White. He is matted on a scalloped circle of Not Quite Navy. My card base is Baja Breeze with a Whisper White Satin Bow.

My little girl card:

is a little different, in that I punched out the front of the card and adhered my little monkey to the inside.

Here's a different angle:
The scalloped circle of Rose Red is adhered to the inside of the card and my little monkey which was stamped on Whisper White in Rose Red is adhered to the scalloped circle using Stampin' Dimensionals. I don't know what I did before Stampin' Dimensionals. They seem to be on every second card I create these days! Good thing I have a supplier - LOL! My card base is Pink Pirouette and features a Whisper White satin bow.

Time for a summary!

STAMPS: Fox and Friends, Short and Sweet
INK: Baja Breeze, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red
PAPERS: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Cajun Craze, Certainly Celery, Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pink Pirouette, Pumpkin Pie
ACCESSORIES: Punches, Ribbon, Hemp Twine, Sponges, Stampin' Dimensionals
