Inspiration Challenge and Weekend Sketch Challenge all in one!

On Saturdays over at SplitCoast Stampers, the challenge is to be inspired. The hostess usually picks a site with lots of fun stuff to look at and we take our inspiration from there.

This week, this was my inspiration for this:

I stamped the main image in Chocolate Chip on Whisper White and coloured it using a combination of Tombo, SU! and Copic markers. I cut around the image and matted it on a piece of Soft Sky DSP (oh how I miss that colour!)

The little birdie was also stamped in Chocolate Chip on Whisper White. I then cut him out using my Coluzzle and matted him on a piece of Chocolate Chip cut using my Quickutz nesting flowers and my brand spanking new Big Shot - WOOHOO!!

The card base is 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 Whisper White. The next layer is 4 X 5 1/4 Chocolate Chip and the next is 3 3/4 X 5 piece of Sahara Sand DSP from the SAB catalogue.

Inside, I stamped the flower vases from the same set and the sentiment "You make me smile". I gave the card to my hubby for "anniversary".

What do you think?

Stamps: Window Dressing
Ink: Chocolate Chip

Bellas, Babes and a Challenge

So...yesterday (or the day before - they all blend together - LOL!) I was browsing the SCS gallery which almost ALWAYS starts me on a blog hop to see what's going on out there in blog land...

Anyway, I'm not quite sure how the heck I got there, but I found my friend Dana!!! She used to live here in Toronto and then she moved to Calgary (pout). She started a blog late last year and now I can follow all the cool stuff she does - YAY!!!

So, OF COURSE, I signed up for her blog updates and this morning I got one that sent me to her blog where I kept reading and ended up at Blogabella.

Emily hosts an inspiration challenge on Mondays, so I decided to try my hand at it...

I didn't have the right DSP, so I used the inspiration piece to colour all the boxes that Bella's fella was carrying and also matted the main image with a darker yellow (More Mustard).

What do you think?

I used a combination of SU! Markers and Copic Markers to colour in the image that I stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Colour Challenge Tuesday♦

When I saw today's colour challenge, I SO wanted to play, but I only had Kiwi Kiss cardstock. As I was browsing the gallery, I saw that another SCSer had used her We R Memory Keepers papers and a little lightbulb went off!

WOOHOO!!! We R MK papers? That I've got in SPADES! So I whipped out Lilo and made this!

I used the stem from In Full Bloom stamped in Kiwi Kiss for the middle flower.

What do you think?

Supplies:
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss
DSP: We R Memory Keepers - Lilo
Ink: Kiwi Kiss

Mojo Monday - Who's that E-Girl?

It's Mojo Monday again! Wanna hear a funny story? It's pretty short, so I'll tell you anyway - LOL!

I was doing some stamping to send a card to a cyber friend who could use a hug. Jonathan (my little man) remarked as I was stamping, "Hey Mom! Is that for Mojo Monday?" He knows I like the sketches and hears me talking about it - so cute!

Of course, I had such a busy day that I didn't even have the time to glance at the Mojo Blog - YIKES! I took a look at the sketch and adapted it a little bit to fit my rectangular image. This is what I came up with:

I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black on Whisper White and coloured it in with a combination of Copics, SU! Markers and Prismacolour Pencils with mineral spirits.

The DSP is by Junkitz - I was using it for VSN over the weekend and it was still out.

Inspired by Mojo Monday

Yesterday I had so much fun playing with the Mojo Monday sketch, that I decided to print them all up and go to town!

I used Candy Lane DSP and cardstock that I had out from making the card that I already made and had a blast! Here's what I came up with:

Mojo Monday - Dreams du Jour

I loved today's Mojo Monday sketch, so I got right to work...well, as soon as I got my butt outta bed - this cold is kicking me in the butt!

At least creating made me feel a bit better!

Here's my card for today's Mojo Monday:

I used a Very Vanilla card base of 4 1/4 X 5 1/2. The next layer was Riding Hood Red cut to 4 X 5 1/4 and the next is Candy Lane DSP cut to 3 3/4 X 5.

The main image was stamped in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla and coloured using blender pens and SU! markers.

The butterfly was stamped in Riding Hood Red on Very Vanilla and mounted on Chocolate Chip.

What do you think?

Recipe:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip
DSP: Candy Lane
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Markers, Ribbon

Friendship in Season Happy Birthday

Well, it IS after lunch...just today and not yesterday - LOL!

My boys godmother's youngest daughter (say that 10 times fast!) turns 18 next week! I made her this card:

The tree is stamped in Close to Cocoa on Whisper White cardstock. The flowers were stamped in Cameo Coral and Ruby Red. Some were stamped directly on the tree image and other were stamped on a separate piece of paper, cut out and mounted on dimensionals to add depth to the card. The sentiment (from a card kit) is stamped in Ruby Red.

The card base is 3" X 6" and is from a pack of Hero Arts cards and envelopes that I had hanging about the house. It's sort of a minty green/seafoam sort of colour.

What do you think?

Recipe:
Cardstock: Whisper White
Stamps: Friendship in Season, Happy Birthday
Ink: Cameo Coral, Ruby Red
Accessories: Dimensionals

Spotlight on Christmas

Over at SplitCoastStampers, a Christmas card challenge is hosted each year. The idea is to make your Christmas cards a little at a time throughout the year so that you aren't rushed like a crazy person come Dec. 1st (raise your hand if you recognize yourself - I know I do!).

Here's my January submission:
I used a tutorial from SplitCoastStampers for the Criss Cross card. It was made from Very Vanilla cardstock, on which I attached DSP from the Ski Slope line that was in the Holiday Mini catalogue...should have ordered more of that *pout*

I stamped the image in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla, punched it out and mounted it on a piece of Bashful Blue.

The belly band is a piece from the Office line layered under a piece from Ski Slope.

What do you think?

Stamps: Spotlight on Christmas
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue
DSP: Office and Ski Slope
Ink: Chocolate Chip
