Sunny Sunday Sketch - Week 2

Time for another Sunny Sunday Sketch! Here's what I have for you this week:

I like basic sketches that allow you to let your imagination run wild. Have fun!

And here's my take on it:

My card base is Old Olive and the next layer up is Whisper White. The layer above the Whisper White is a retired DSP - my apologies, I can't remember the name of it. It sure looks great with Vintage Vogue though! Hopefully with Riding Hood Red and Blush Blossom returning to the Stampin' UP! colour palette they'll bring the DSP back.

The sentiment is stamped on Whisper White in Riding Hood Red and matted on a piece of DSP from the same pack as the background.

I stamped and hand cut the two flowers and sandwiched a flower from the Pretties Kit between them before adding a rhinestone brad for a little bit of bling.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Vintage Vogue
INK: Blush Blossom, Riding Hood Red
PAPERS: Whisper White and Old Olive Cardstock; DSP
ACCESSORIES: Pretties Kit Flower, Rhinestone Brad

A Sweet Celebration

I made this card following this sketch over at SplitCoast Stampers. The sketch challenge was a couple weeks ago, but better late than never right?

I stamped my image using Creamy Caramel and Pumpkin Pie inks. It took a few tries to get it JUST right, but it was worth it! I also stamped some "sprinkles" on the Pumpkin Pie piece of cardstock using Pumpkin Pie Ink.

The base is Taken with Teal and the DSP is Sweet Pea. I added a piece of Certainly Celery to the left hand side and the finishing touch was the Whisper White "flag" on which I stamped the sentiment. I also used my Taken with Teal marker to add some faux stitching to the sentiment to make it appear as though it was stitched to the card.

What do you think?

PAPERS: Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie and Taken with Teal Cardstock; Sweet Pea DSP

Sunny Sunday Sketch

I love, love, LOVE sketches! Especially when my MOJO seems to have taken a vacation! So, my plan is to have a sketch for YOU to use in case your MOJO decides to go to Florida or Hawaii or wherever it is that MOJO's go when they're on vacation - LOL!

Here's todays sketch:
Just for the record, when I was designing this in MDS (My Digital Studio) the rectangular Apricot Appeal panel went all the way to the top and bottom of the card. Oops!

The family wants to head out for the afternoon, so I'll be back later with my take on the sketch.

Oops! Better late than never, right? I didn't get a chance to make a card yesterday as we were out a little later than we planned and then we had to get dinner and do Sunday evening family stuff. So, a day late, but here's my card:

I used the new Level 1 stamp set from the Summer Mini called "It's the Thought". It has seven (7) absolutely ADORABLE images complete with sentiments. I'll be using it a LOT!

What do you think?

STAMPS: It's the Thought
INK: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie (for sponging)
PAPERS: Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise Cardstock; Island Oasis DSP
ACCESSORIES: Punches, Ribbon, Sponges

If you'd like to use the sketch and want others to see what you've created, please use Mr. Linky below to link back to your blog.

Faith, Trust and a Little Bit of Pixie Dust...

OK, so that isn't the name of the set, but my Caroline and I have Disney on the brain and our trip isn't even till the second week in December - ZOINKS!

The set is called "A Little Bit of Magic" and I made this card with it:

Now, I love all things Stampin' UP! but this image just SCREAMED Copic and well...I had to listen! I used the "pixie dust" stamp to stamp all over my Certainly Celery card base and added a piece of DSP from the Sweet Pea collection down the left hand side. The strip under the main image is Pretty in Pink and here I stamped the sentiment in Rose Red. The cardstock behind the image is also Rose Red.

What do you think?

STAMPS: A Little Bit of Magic
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black, Rose Red
PAPERS: Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red Cardstock; Sweet Pea DSP

Favourite Thoughts

One of my favourite stamp sets from the Summer Mini is Favourite Thoughts. My absolute FAVOURITE is "There is nothing wrong with the world that a sensible woman could not settle in an afternoon". How perfect is that? And how true!

OK, so a couple weeks ago, my upline and BFF was sorting through her retired product in preparation for our big event in a couple of weeks and she found some In Colour product from previous years. I just about tackled her asked her nicely if I could have it and because she loves me so much and knows how much I LOVE Soft Sky and Blue Bayou she obliged. Isn't she AWESOME?

So, with some of my new/old stash I made this:

I used Blue Bayou for my card and Soft Sky for accent pieces. The sentiment is stamped on Whisper White and I used my Ticket Corner Punch on both the Whisper White and Blue Bayou before adhering it to the Soft Sky and adding brads.

While I had the set out, I made these two cards too:

This paper is retired too, but at least it's more recent than the previous card - LOL!

These cards use Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper and Taken with Teal cardstock as the base. I also used some Pumpkin Pie and Certainly Celery Cardstock.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Favourite Thoughts
INK: Not Quite Navy, Taken with Teal and Pumpkin Pie (for sponging)
PAPERS: Whisper White, Taken with Teal, Certainly Celery, Blue Bayou and Pumpkin Pie Cardstock; Sweet Pea, Blue Bayou and Soft Sky DSP
ACCESSORIES: Brads, Sponges

Back to Basics

Lately, I've been seeing a LOT of vintage and distressed cards. These REALLY aren't my style, though I do LOVE the Vintage Vogue set that was in the Occasions Mini and will carry over to the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue - YAY!

So, for today's card, I'm going "Back to Basics":

My card today is 3 X 6. This is such a fun little size! And, as an added bonus, you can actually get 4 cards out of one 12 X 12 sheet of cardstock - BONUS!

I stamped the image using markers and the direct to rubber technique. I used Always Apricot (retiring - SAD!), Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink, both of which are hanging around after the Colour Renovation.

That little strip of paper you see there is one of the NEW colours called Marina Mist. It's a little paler IRL than it is in the pic above. The colour combination that I used was found in Stampin' Success (a demo only magazine) and I love it. It's included in the new Colour Coach that will be available on July 1st. I can't wait to get my hands on it because I can already tell I'm going to LOVE it!

What do you think?

STAMPS: Hello Again
INK: Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink
PAPERS: Whisper White, Marina Mist and Certainly Celery Cardstock

It's a Tropical Party!

Ooooh! If I had to pick just one set from the Summer Mini, this would be it! Tropical Party is just SO much fun and it lends itself perfectly to bright and sunny colours. How could I resist? How could anyone?

I think this was from a sketch that came into my inbox at some point, but I can't remember when. If someone recognizes it, would you please be so kind as to let me know? Thanks!

Onto the card:
The card base is 5 1/4" square and the layers are of varying sizes.

The main image is stamped in Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie. I was kind of sad to see that Taken with Teal is one of the retiring colours but seeing Tempting Turquoise paired with Pumpkin Pie will make it a bit easier. I stamped the foliage first and then stamped the large flower from the set twice, directly onto the piece of Whisper White. Then I stamped the large flower again onto a piece of scrap Whisper White and finally, I stamped the two smaller flowers in Pumpkin Pie. These three were cut out leaving just a bit of Whisper White showing around the image. The two smaller flowers were mounted using Stampin' Dimensionals and the finishing touch was Dazzling Diamonds in the centre of each of the flowers.

The two pieces of DSP are taken from the Island Oasis DSP which can be found in the new Summer Mini.

I can't remember the last time I made a card with SO many layers, but it sure was fun!!! My final touch was three white 3/8" brads. I think it could use a sentiment, but I haven't decided what yet (or to whom I'll give it), so I'll leave it blank for now.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Tropical Party

Sweet Pea Extravaganza

While I know that both the Sweet Pea Felt and the Sweet Pea Paper pack are no longer available, I still have lots of it and still love it!

However, while I do love it, my creativity seems to have escaped me and my MOJO seems to have up and walked away. Thank goodness for the ability to CASE and for the wonderfully talented ladies that put such goodness on their blogs!

This first card came into my inbox via the lovely and talented Julie Davison:

It features Rose Red Cardstock as the base, with a piece of Sweet Pea DSP. A piece of Rose Red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon is wrapped around the piece of Old Olive Cardstock where the focal image is placed on 1 3/4" Whisper White circle. The stamped sentiment is from the new Watercolor Trio which can be found in the Summer Mini.

The next two cards also arrived into my inbox and these came from Allison Ohran:

The top card features Kraft Cardstock (being renamed Crumb Cake - YUM! - on July first when the new Idea Book and Catalogue launches), a piece of Sweet Pea DSP and a "hug" from the Sending Love Notes Collection. The stamped sentiment is from the set Whimsical Words that was available as part of Sale-A-Bration.

The bottom card uses (the returning - YAY!) Pink Pirouette with a piece of Sweet Pea DSP and another "hug" from the Sending Love Notes Collection. This stamped sentiment is also from the Whimsical Words set.

This last card was CASEd from none other than Patty Bennett:

This card uses a Rose Red card base with the next layer being a piece of Pretty in Pink Cardstock. The next layer up is a piece of one of the new Core Colors called Early Espresso. It's darker than Chocolate Chip and so RICH! I know you're just going to LOVE it!!

I used the top note die to cut out a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and a piece of Sweet Pea DSP for the bottom. The sentiment (from Whimsical Words) was stamped on a piece of Sweet Pea DSP and punched out using the Large Oval Punch. It was matted on a piece of Rose Red Cardstock that was punched out using the Scalloped Oval Punch.

What do you think:

STAMPS: Whimsical Words, Watercolor Trio
INK: Chocolate Chip
PAPER: Whisper White, Rose Red, Old Olive, Kraft (Crumb Cake), Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink and Early Espresso Cardstock; Sweet Pea DSP
ACCESSORIES: Ribbon, Sending Love Notes Hugs, Sweet Pea Felt, Big Shot and Top Note Die
