Fun and Fast Notes...

...are indeed FUN and FAST!!! I borrowed this set from my Caroline (good thing she has two as I've had it for a while) and got to use it the other day. I whipped up these babies in under 10 minutes...not 10 minutes each, 10 minutes in TOTAL!

How cute are these??? I used the direct to rubber technique again and then stamped the images on Whisper White Cardstock. The "do-it-yourself" DSP that you see was made using the With All My Heart Set that my Caroline gave to ALL the Stampin' Palooza attendees last weekend. Her next Stampin' Palooza event has been announced and I just KNOW you'll want to be there! You can check out all the details here. I hear there's going to be an afternoon sundae bar...just sayin'.

No new sheets of cardstock were harmed...

...in the making of this card (and the ones that will follow in the next few days too). The good thing about my scrap bag is that I also put 1/2 sheets of cardstock in there too, so I really DON'T need to start a new sheet in order to create a card. The other good thing is that it challenges me to use colour combinations I wouldn't have thought made sense...turns out they do - LOL!

This card isn't exactly from a half sheet of cardstock - it's slightly smaller. The finished size of the card is 3 1/4 X 5 1/4 - Not exactly standard, but fun!!!

The scraps of paper are from the Cottage Wall DSP pack. I stamped the image using the direct to rubber technique (using markers to colour directly on the stamp) and stamped the image on Whisper White Cardstock. I used my sponge daubers to add some Old Olive ink around the outside of the panel and some Rich Razzlebery ink to sort of colour in the bird. The image was matted on Pale Plum Cardstock and adhered to the front of the card. The finishing touch was a length of knotted Old Olive Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

Fox and Friends

I just got the Sweet Pea DSP the other day and I can't even begin to tell you how much I LOVE it!!! All the patterns...SO bright and colourful! And SO fun!

On Monday, it was family day, but DH didn't get the day off as Family Day is only a provincial holiday and his company recognizes only national holidays. Sucks to be us!!! The kids and I spent the day at home just doing our own thing...DD slept, the boys played video games and I stamped.

I got to play along with the Chat and Challenge on SUDSOL...well, play may not be accurate exactly...I chatted with the ladies and then created the card after the chat was done.

This is the card I made:

I stamped the lion in Pumpkin Pie and he was off center, which worked out OK, because then I stamped him again and used the original image to cut out his head and make my little lion 3-D.

I matted him on the same DSP that I used for the strip down the left hand side of the card.

The ribbon was the finishing touch!

With All My Heart

So...last week I was having some MAJOR MOJO issues and just couldn't figure out what to do to get it going again...I stared at sketches, I looked at inspiration sites...I tried it all!

I'll spare you all the boring details, but suffice to say that the thing that brought back my MOJO made my DH (and probably several others - nudge, nudge girls) very happy!!! The card came to me as I was laying in bed and when I put it together, it looked EXACTLY the way it did in my head - I LOVE when that happens!

I would definitely call this card CAS (Clean and Simple) as it was SUPER easy to put together and took no time at all (less than 10 minutes in fact - and the bow was the thing that gave me the most trouble).

Thank You with Sending Love

I've been creating, but just been so busy that there are not enough hours in the day to photograph my creations, edit them and then upload them. In desperation, I've turned to taking photographs with my iPhone and editing them using PS Mobile. A little primitive to be sure, but when time is of the essence, you gotta do what you gotta do!

Here's a card that I created while I was making samples for the Stampin' Palooza event that my Caroline is hosting this Friday and Saturday. She asked me to make samples for a sample board, and I was happy to oblige!

There is very little stamping on this one and it's very subtle. Look closely at the bottom of the card and you'll see the small stamped "Thank You" from the set "With all My Heart". If you're signed up for Stampin' Palooza, this is the stamp set you'll be receiving as part of your registration package. It's LOTS of fun to play with!

I used Pretty in Pink as my base an added a punched layer of Whisper White under the square of Sending Love Designer Series Paper. The finishing touch was the ribbon secured with the sending love Pretty in Pink 1/2" brad. I then added the stamped image in Pretty in Pink at the bottom of the card.

Baby Sympathy

Two words that should NEVER be uttered in the same sentence...unfortunately, reality being what it is, sometimes our littlest ones are sent home to God much too early.

A couple weeks ago, a very good online friend lost her little baby at just 15 weeks. She had suffered two other miscarriages within this past year and everyone was so sure that after her first trimester had passed that she was in the clear. We were so saddened to hear of her loss...and so I made her this card, because I wanted her to know that I was thinking of her and that I was SO sorry for her loss.
I hope that even if it only helped in the smallest way, that she was comforted to know that someone remembered.

Something a little brighter

Having mooched (uhh, borrowed) my Caroline's Stem Silhouettes set, I had to use it to make this bright and cheery card.
After a bit of a cold spell, it seems things are starting to warm up a bit - thank goodness! I know I was born and raised in Montreal, but I've been in Mississauga for nearly 20 years now and I think I've become more accustomed to the warmer weather in Southern Ontario as opposed to the FREEZING cold of Québec!

For the card, I stamped Stem Silhouettes in Melon Mambo and then stamped it again without re-inking the image. I matted the image panel on Melon Mambo and added the sentiment to the bottom. I love combining the Word Window punch with the Modern Label punch.

The Designer Series Paper is Razzleberry Lemonade which goes PERFECTLY with this year's in Colours.

Brother-in-Law Birthday

Here are the cards I designed for my Brothers-in-Law (both of them) birthdays. I had the set out to do my Dad's and Uncle's cards, so I figured I might as well. As you can tell, I made them over the Christmas holiday (I miss taking pictures in the tree - it made for a great backdrop!)
Anyway...today is Karl's birthday (DH's sister's hubby's birthday - did you get that???) and Paul's birthday (my sister's hubby) is on April 6th. No...I didn't mail them at the same time - LOL!

Other than the piercing, the cards are pretty much identical. Kraft cardstock, Manchester Designer Series Paper, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla Cardstock.

With Heartfelt Sympathy

I REALLY don't like making sympathy cards, but sometimes they are necessary.

Last week, my mom's cousin's daughter passed away (we have quite an extensive extended family) and while we aren't in touch all that often, I still wanted to send a card.

Last week, my upline had a ten-card class and she designed this card as a friendship card. It's simple design lent itself readily to a sympathy card and it was just what I needed!
I stamped the image and sentiment in More Mustard on Very Vanilla Cardstock. After I stamped the sentiment, I sponged the cardstock with champagne shimmer paint, so that I would be sure to sponge around it. The main image panel is mounted on dimensionals.

I also created a sketch because I used the card/sketch while I was hosting the Chat and Challenge at SUDSOL today.
