Just one more week!

This is a VERY busy post day...please keep scrolling down to see what else is going on in my stamping world. :)

If you're in LOVE with Summer Smooches and want to get it BEFORE it appears in the new catalogue, now's your chance! After April 30th, this suite won't be available again until June 1st! And don't forget...the fabric brads and the stencil are GONE FOREVER at the end of the month!!

Happy Stampin'!

Are you ready??

Tomorrow is Stampin' Queens day...it's also accessories retirement day!!!

The retiring accessories list posts TOMORROW!!!

I can say with certainty that ANYTHING with 2010-2012 retiring In Colours will be GONE. That's anything with Blushing Bride, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Poppy Parade and Concord Crush.

In years past, this stuff has gone VERY fast and MANY people have been disappointed! If you want ANYTHING with In Colours, I STRONGLY suggest you order it today.

Bright Blossoms for Mother's Day

I love the 20th of the month! And not just because it's baby bonus day in Canada - LOL!

On the 20th of each month, the FREAKS go on tour!!! It's by far the best and my favourite blog hop. The ladies and gentlemen on this team are just BEYOND awesome!

This month was NO exception and I just knew when I saw Deb's card that I would have to CASE it. It was too perfect to pass up!

Check it out:

It was SO easy to make! I had both cards done in just under 10 minutes. The most time consuming part was cutting out the little flower. Don't you just love it?

The card base is Whisper White and I added a piece of Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper to the front.

I used the direct to rubber technique to colour the stamped the image and stamped it on another piece of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the flower on a scrap piece of Whisper White and cut it out before adding it to the card using a Stampin' Dimensional. A Basic Rhinestone was the finishing touch.

Don't forget! The Summer Smooches products are only available until April 30th and then you'll have to wait until June 1st to get your hands on them again! If you liked the Summer Smooches Fabric Brads, you'll need to get THOSE before the end of April, because they WON'T be available in the new catalogue.

What do you think?

Going Retro for Father's Day

I had an idea when I saw the Retro Sketch for this week...it just took a little while to get it out of my head and on a card - LOL!

This is another of the cards we'll be creating at my SOLD OUT class in May. I have another (different) class in July, that you're more than welcome to attend. Better sign up quick though, it's already filling!!

I was going to stamp the ties in Basic Black...until I realized that I had CRAFT re-inker and not CLASSIC re-inker - OOPS!!! I think I like it better this way, so it all worked out!

So, the ties got stamped in Sahara Sand and I really like the "almost" monochromatic look of the card.

I didn't add a sentiment, so it can be a card for ANYTHING!! I'll let my class participants decide what THEY want to put on the card.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Best Dad Ever
INK: Sahara Sand
PAPERS: Whisper White, Basic Black and Sahara Sand Cardstock; Basic Black DSP

The Open Sea for the Stampin' Queens!

Good morning everyone! Are you done reeling from the retired list that posted on Sunday? Hang on to your pants, because the accessories list posts a week from today - EEK!!!

In last year's summer mini, one of my favourite sets made it's first appearance. I was SO sad when it didn't make it into the Idea Book and Catalogue but THRILLED when we found out it was still available as write-in. YAY!

Today's Stampin' Queen card uses the Open Sea:

And here's the sketch on which it was based:

I just love how quickly it came together! Which, let's be honest, is a GOOD thing considering that when I created it last night, I had already spent the day on an outdoor field trip with 38 grade three students. To say I was EXHAUSTED would be an understatement!

Since this card will be one of those featured in my "Manly Man" card class on May 5th, I wanted it to be fairly simple. I stamped the images in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla and then matted them both on Chocolate Chip cardstock. I added two strips of cardstock (one punched) at the bottom of the card, adhered the images and called it DONE! It has the "DH seal of approval", so I think I'm good! LOL!

What do you think?

STAMPS: The Open Sea
INK: Chocolate Chip

Going, Going, GONE!

Stampin' UP! has posted the list of retiring stamps sets and it's quite extensive!! I haven't checked in with any of my fellow demonstrator, but I lost 65 stamp sets today! Now...of course they're not REALLY lost and I COULD keep them all if I wanted to, but I'm looking forward to getting NEW stamps!

My list of "I won't part with this" has grown a little bit, but that's OK. I still have LOTS of room to add NEW stamp sets, which means new stamp sets for all the classes you'll be attending this year! I'm most looking forward to the new Christmas stamp sets as I've introduced Christmas Stamp Camp Classes this year.

Would YOU like to see the list?? You can check it out here. If you're ready to start shopping, just click here.

Just a reminder that June 2nd is my open house! Come stamp with me! We'll be creating a card using products from the NEW catalogue and you'll get to shop my retired products! Except for my "I can't part with this" stamps, if it's retired, I'm selling it!! This will also include any retiring In Colour products, retiring paper, scrap packs, inks, refills, markers...well, you get the idea.

You'll want to arrive early for the best selection. The open house/retirement party starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.

Happy Stampin'!

Eleanor Inspired by Ann Schach

When I saw this card on Ann's blog, I just KNEW I would have to CASE it! I wonder if she gets tired of hearing that? LOL! She does such wonderful work that I quite often find myself drawn to her designs!

Here's my take on it:

I didn't use quite as many flowers or embellishments, because it's going in the mail...to a whole lot of people! This is my May team card of the month. When I started doing team cards of the month, I had two downline. TWO! In the past year, our team has grown to 23 and we just keep on growing! The Canadian Blossoms is where it's at!

As of February, my team is officially "cross country" as I welcomed a new team member from ALBERTA! You see...you don't have to be local! I support my team members no matter WHERE they live.

Have you ever thought of becoming a Stampin' UP! demonstrator? Now is a GREAT time to join! The retired stamp list publishes on Sunday, the retired accessories list publishes on April 25th and the preview of the NEW catalogue will be available to demonstrators on May 1st! One of my FAVOURITE perks as a demonstrator is that I get to see, touch and play with NEW goodies a whole MONTH before my customers.

If that isn't enough...you also get a team card of the month from me - EVERY MONTH. You get a minimum of 20% off your Stampin' UP! products. You get team camaraderie. You get a newsletter (from me) every month to keep you up to date. You get the Stampin' Success magazine (EXCLUSIVE to demonstrators) and...I could go on and on! I just LOVE this company and what I get to do!!! You can love what you do too!

What do you think?

STAMPS: Everything Eleanor (available in the NEW catalogue on June 1st!)

Going Retro with Tea Shoppe

I was feeling rather uncreative today, so I just sat around surfing the net for ideas. Not much came to me...till I stumbled across Retro Sketches again!

I used their sketch:

To create this:

I love Tea Shoppe and sure hope it carries over into the new Catalogue! And speaking of which...the current Idea Book and Catalogue will be retiring on May 31st. The retiring stamp list will be available in just FOUR short days!

Wanna see some close ups? Here you go:

It's a little blurry, but you can see I used Stampin' Dimensionals. If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that very few of my cards go without Stampin' Dimensionals. I just LOVE them!

I stamped the inside of the card with the small flower image. We'll be using this set at class this weekend!

And here's a group shot. I made eight cards since I had some pre-cut Riding Hood Red cardstock. The cards are 3 3/4" square. I'm going to make up some envies using the Simply Scored Diagonal plate and share them with my class attendees on Saturday.

Uncharted Territory for the Stampin' Queens

Happy Wednesday!!! It's time for the Stampin' Queens sketch of the week. Won't you play along?

Here's our sketch for the week:

And here's my take on it:

I left out the sentiment in an effort to make this a REALLY manly card - no embellishments on this one!

I stamped the image on watercolour paper using Staz-ON ink and coloured it in using my watercolour crayons and aqua painters. I LOVE the way it turned out!

This is just ONE of the cards we'll be creating at my "manly man" class on May 5th. There's only SIX spots available, so don't miss out!

What do you think?

STAMPS: Uncharted Territory

Under the Wire for Freshly Made Sketches

PHEW! I'm pretty sure I'm JUST making it for the Freshly Made sketches this week. Better late than never, right?

I have a "manly man" class coming up in May (10 of 16 spots are already filled!) and I've been creating cards for that. Today's card used the Freshly Made Sketches sketch.

Here it is:

I stamped the image on Very Vanilla using Chocolate Chip Ink and sponged the edges to give it a more "manly" look. The papers/cardstock I used are Chocolate Chip and Cajun Craze. Of course, I had to add a tiny little embellishment and chose a brad.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Lovely as a Tree
INK: Chocolate Chip

Let's Play a Game...

In just a few short days, Stampin' UP! will reveal its list of retiring stamps! This is always a bittersweet time (especially for demonstrators). We're excited because the retiring list means that NEW stamps are right around the corner, but we're sad because some of our favourites may no longer be available!

This year, I thought I'd play a little game. Here's how it's going to work:
  1. Go through the catalogue
  2. Make a list of which stamps YOU think will be retiring on April 15th
  3. Email your TOP 10 list - the ten sets YOU think are most likely to retire.
  4. Sit patiently and wait...
The RULES:
  1. Only ONE entry per person
  2. This contest is NOT open to demonstrators
  3. The contest is ONLY open to Canadians
  4. Your list MUST be emailed - do NOT reply to this blog post
  5. The contest begins with this post and ends at 11:55 pm EST on April 14th, 2012
  6. The person who has the MOST correct entries will be entitled to choose a regularly priced stamp set of THEIR choice from the catalogue (no hostess sets)
  7. If there's a tie, the earliest received entry will win
  8. If the list is leaked early, the contest ends early
GOOD LUCK and Happy Stampin'!

Did you hear that?

I think that maybe, just maybe...it might have been an hallelujah chorus! Last night, I downloaded the beta version of CS6. Now, I can do this again:

Did you see that? Yes, I showed you this card last week (and I'm pleased to report that "envie test" was a success!), but can you see the difference?? It's my WATERMARK! Oh how I have missed my watermark! I can't use my watermark without Photoshop and lately photoshop and my mac have NOT been playing nice. For right now...I have CS6 beta and it's making me happy - YAY!!!

TOOL TIME!

I've talked about GRID PAPER before but I'm wondering:  If I asked you to make a Top 10 list of your favorite Stampin’ Up! tools, would you even get Grid Paper (102787) on your list?  Maybe you overlooked grid paper as a tool.  Well, think again!  It's one of the best tools you (should) have in your stampin' space.

Grid Paper, 102787, $9.95

Features:
  • It comes in an 11” x 17” pad containing 100 sheets printed with ¼” grid lines.
  • It's only $12.50 for all 100 sheets---which you can use over and over and over till they're just a total mess!
  • There's a 10" ruler that appears on the left-hand side, and
  • There's a 16" ruler that appears on the bottom.
  • There's an area for easy reference of Card Dimensions on the right-hand side
  • There's a "Wish List" area on the right hand side also.

So how about benefits?
  • One of the greatest benefits is that it protects your work area from ink, adhesive, and other product stuff you don't want there.  Like glitter?!
  • always recommend that my class participants practice stamping on their grid paper before stamping on their card stock.  You can check the color and intensity of the ink as well as how level the stamp (wood or clear) has been mounted.
  • With the rulers readily available, it's easy to measure the stamp you want to use and the add 1/8" or 1/4" on all sides for your card stock.
  • You can stash your trash in one of the upper corners for a trip to the trash bin when you're ready.
  • You can hold excess Embossing Powder on the grid sheet and roll it in a tube to slide in back into the EP container.
How can you get your own pad of Grid Paper?  Just give me a call (phone number is in the blog banner at the top of the page) and I'll place your order.  Or just click on "Go Shopping" link in the upper left corner and place your own order via my Stampin' Store on my Stampin' Up! website.  Or finally, just come to lots of my classes and take your single sheet home at the end of each class.
Which way will you choose???

Bright Blossoms for the Stampin' Queens!

I'm probably one of the LAST demonstrators to have received her Bright Blossoms Stamp Set - SHEESH!!!

In my defence, I'm trying to be VERY good and only spend what I have earned. It's hard work, but so far so good! Then, when I finally DID order it, it was on backorder - UGH!!!

It arrived on Monday and I made this:

based on this sketch:

And here's a close up:

I used snail to adhere all the little 1 1/4" circles except for the last one in the bottom right, which was popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Since I ordered the clear mount set, I was able to put the leaves and the flower cluster on the block at the same time. Then I just used my Stampin' Write Markers to colour the two parts. Easy Peasy! In less than 10 minutes, I had a seriously cute card!

What do you think?
