Just a little bit of MOJO

Well...as you know I was in Salt Lake City last week attending the Stampin' UP! convention - a celebration of 25 amazing years!!

Now...I haven't been a demonstrator for QUITE that long (Stampin' UP! has only been in Canada for 11 yrs), but it was so much fun to celebrate with demonstrators who had just started as well as those who had been around since the very BEGINNING! Some who had joined in the FIRST WEEK back in 1988 were still active. How awesome is that?

While I was there, I seemed to have picked up some MOJO! I don't know if my MOJO was there waiting for me, but since I've been back, all I want to do is CREATE!

It's been quite a while since I participated in the Paper Crafts Crew Challenge, but here is today's card:

Since the sketch was square, I started off with a 5 1/4" square base of Bermuda Bay. I added layers of Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper and Very Vanilla Cardstock.

The sentiment is from Yippee Skippee - a new set in the 2013-2014 catalogue that we received at Convention. It was the 25th anniversary and we were SPOILED! I added 1/4"Taffeta Ribbon and Candy Dots in Bermuda Bay to finish things off.

Check out the inside:

I carried the DSP/Colour theme on the inside too...I just love, love, LOVE cards that are finished on the inside too. :)

Here's the sketch on which the card was based:

The Power of TWO

I have another Yippee Skippee card for you today! I do hope you don't tire of the set. :)

Since I was playing with the papers from Birthday Basics, I decided on a card base of Raspberry Ripple. I had a piece that was already cut to 4 x 8 1/2, so I just trimmed it down and made a 4 x 4 card. Cute, right?

I used my Stamp-a-majig to stamp the sentiment right into the bottom left hand corner and then stamped the cups from Perfect Blend using Early Espresso and cut them out. I stamped the "cup sleeve" again in Early Espresso on the Raspberry Ripple DSP and cut it out adding it to the cups. One cup was placed directly on the cardstock and the other was added using Stampin' Dimensionals. I doodled around the Very Vanilla Cardstock using my Raspberry Ripple marker taking care to avoid the sentiment and the cup (you can see where the marker stops).

I don't have a picture of the inside (OOPS!), but I stamped the cup AGAIN in Early Espresso and added the sentiment "Coffee & Friends are the perfect blend".

I love this little stamp set and just $13.95 (#131392) for the clear and $16.95 for the wood (#130475), you can love it too!

I think I know just who would like to receive it, so I've got to get to the post office and send it off!

A little late...

...or is it early?

Well...I guess it all depends on your perspective!

Today's card was created for the SplitCoast Stampers Sketch Challenge from LAST week, so it's late. But, if you figure that it's a Christmas cards...it's EARLY!

I started off with a base of Baked Brown Sugar and added a layer of Cherry Cobbler. I think if I had to do it over, I'd add some texture to the Cherry Cobbler Layer, just for some interest.

My Designer Series Paper is from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Pack which will be available in just a FEW days from the Holiday Catalogue - are you excited??

Speaking of the Holiday Catalogue...do you need one? If so (and you're in Canada), just click on the "email me" link...up there...on the left and send me a quick message with your mailing address. I'll get one off to you ASAP!

My sentiment (stamped in Cherry Cobbler) is ALSO from the Holiday Catalogue and is part of the "Joy to the World" stamp set. Doodling around the sentiment panel was done using my Cherry Cobbler marker.

I cut out a paper flag using the dies from Hearts a Flutter and the polka dot pattern DSP and added it to the top left of the card.

The finishing touch was to add a bit of bling in the form of Basic Rhinestones.

What do you think?

Carbs, Schmarbs!

When I first saw the Yippee Skippee Stamp Set in the 2013-2014, I just KNEW I had to have it - just because of this very sentiment!

Who cares about carbs? Especially on your birthday!!!

For this card, I started off with a base of Baked Brown Sugar (doesn't that just sound awesome?) and added layers of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper.

I stamped the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla and cut it out using the Chalk Talk Dies and the Big Shot. The cake was stamped on Very Vanilla with Basic Grey and then coloured in with markers, using colours in the Designer Series Paper.

I added some Summer Starfruit ribbon and Very Vintage Designer Button tied with Baker's Twine from the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit (the twine is Crushed Curry - close enough, right?)

The finishing touch is Dazzling Details on the candle flame.

What do you think?

And now for the REAL card - Sheesh!

If you scroll down, you'll see that life is not QUITE back to normal after convention and that I need to sort out my brain a little bit - OOPS! But...I was so excited about finding my MOJO that I just jumped in with both feet before my brain had a chance to catch up!

Yesterday I was getting some posts ready to go and thought I would jump back in with the Paper Crafts Crew and added the card you see in the post below. I couldn't quite figure out why I seemed to be the only one playing along. Turns out I was working on the WRONG sketch!

Here's today's card (based on the RIGHT sketch):

I started off with a Crushed Curry base (this wasn't one of my favourites when it was an "in colour", but it's kind of grown on me!) and added a layer of Very Vanilla. The next layer up is Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper.

For the main image, I stamped the chevron image from Oh, Hello in Crushed Curry (stamped off first) and then stamped the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz. I took it to my Big Shot and, using the Oval Framelits dies, cut it out. I stamped the flowers using the direct to rubber technique (come to class on September 7th!) and cut them out by hand.

The Pear Pizzazz 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon was tucked under the image panel and tied in a bow.

Here's what the inside looks like (before I wrote the message and popped in the bag of the brand new customer who picked up her order this morning):

This was a whole new level of doodling for me!! I really like the way it turned out. I started off trying to zig-zag all the way around, but that was looking very messy, very fast! So, this was my alternative idea. I continued the cut flower on the inside too.

My card won't be in the post, but you can check out what the rest of the Crew have been up to here.

What do you think?

Ahem...Pardon me...

Oh dear! It seems that in my excitement to get creating, I actually created using the sketch for NEXT week's card - OOPS!!!

I'm going to work on the ACTUAL sketch for this week and come back ASAP to post it...and then I need to sort out all my scheduled posts which will make absolutely NO sense the way they're written now. *sigh*

See you later!

Will YOU Be The Difference?

Every time Stampin' UP! puts on a large scale event, they choose a service project. The BEST part? We all get to help!

This year, we were blessed to create birthday kits for Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. I would just LOVE to be able to see the children's faces when they open their birthday boxes.

Here in my city (well, the Greater Toronto Area), there's the Hospital for Sick Children which will GRATEFULLY accept your leftover paper, unloved stamps, embellishments, etc for their NICU scrapbooking program and for the child life department in general.

Is there a children's hospital in YOUR area that could benefit from your generosity? How will YOU choose to BE THE DIFFERENCE?

I didn't get a photo of the boxes that went to Primary Children's, but there were dozens of boxes just like this one that contained 2000 birthday kits delivered to the hospital:
