A little Halloween colour for the Divas

Are you ready for Halloween? Are you even going out? If you live on/near the East Coast, you're probably hunkering down and not even opening the front door. I'm in Southern Ontario and considering just going to the store and buying each of the kids a box of candy. Seriously. I'd rather do that than brave the nasty weather we're expecting tomorrow evening. YUCK!

I hope today's card has colours cheery enough to bring a bit of sunshine to your day if you're dealing with Sandy in your part of the country:

I started off with Spooky Bingo Bits to create my paper by stamping randomly on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Next I stamped the sentiment from Seasonal Sayings onto Whisper White Cardstock and dragged that strip through my Elegant Eggplant ink.

The sentiment was adhered to the homemade paper and they were both adhered to a Basic Black base.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Divas HERE.

Hope you have a great Halloween and manage to stay dry!

CAS Saturday?

I've been fiddling around with ideas for a Saturday feature, so you'll have to bear with me till I discover which one I might like to do. Maybe YOU can even help me decide!

For today I decided to do a CAS card (at least CAS by my standards - LOL!). If you're NEW to card making, CAS means Clean and Simple - that's no extra fancy stuff! No distressing, no fancy layers, minimal embellishments. Get the idea?

Today's card was inspired by one of the many online stamping sites I frequent and the credit for my inspiration goes to Loll Thompson.

Check it out:

I started off with the Designer Series Paper from Howlstooth and Scaringbone, available in the Holiday Catalogue. It's part of the Halloween Suite, but you could most definitely use it for any fall cards as well. Or any cards at all really. There's no discernible Halloween images on any of the papers.

I cut down my strips of DSP to 1 1/4" and then cut them into piece of 1" and 2". They were attached to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. My little house (from Spooky Bingo Bits) was stamped in Basic Grey on Very Vanilla and attached to a piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock. After tying my Basic Grey Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon to the card front, I attached the house image using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Finally, I stamped the Happy Halloween (from Seasonal Sayings in the Holiday Catalogue) in Tangerine Tango near the bottom of the card front.

The whole thing was then attached to the Basic Grey base.

Because one Design Team is not enough!

Yesterday, I was hanging out on SplitCoast Stampers checking out the boards and the gallery. I decided to hunt down the CAS (that's Clean and Simple) challenge for this week and came across the Design Team call challenge!

I thought, "why not?" and got to work.

The first challenge was to create a card using the colours of our favourite sports team. Now, I could have used the Green, White and Red of my Italian boys, but the first thing that popped into my head was the New England Patriots, so I decided to go with that. I'm not a huge sports fan, but I do enjoy a good Super Bowl!

I left out the nautical blue and went with Silver, Red and White for my Christmas card. This set, Seasonal Sayings was just ONE of the gifts I won at the Hamilton Regional, so I decided to ink it up! I have to say I quite like it and I'm glad that Stampin' UP! found another Seasonal set after having retired Seasonal Sentiments (which is still available to download as a digital stamp set).

I stamped the image in Cherry Cobbler on Shimmery White Cardstock. You can't really tell in the photo, but the shimmer of the white paired with the silver looks FABULOUS!

I added some Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine for that extra little "something".
