I love you

I hope you enjoyed 3-D Thursday yesterday! My plan is to bring you something other than a card each week. I hope you'll join me! :)

Today, I'm sharing the most adorable thing you'll see on the internet this week!

Before I put away all the paper I used in yesterday's post, I created a few more things. Check it out:

This first card is my new friend Bella! She's in the stamp set Bella and Friends and she's available for purchase in my online store. You can have her delivered in wood mount or clear mount and I'm sure she'd LOVE to come play with you! :)

My card base is Dapper Denim (quite possibly my FAVOURITE of all the 2016-2017 In Colours) which I stamped with Dapper Denim Ink using an image from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set.

I added a layer of By The Shore Designer Series Paper and then attached my focal image. It was stamped onto THICK Whisper White Cardstock using Archival Black Ink.

Did you know that you can actually watercolour your image stamped in Archival Black Ink? It's perfect for this kind of technique. Now, mind you, you have to be careful to not use TOO much water if you're using Whisper White Cardstock. If you're going to need to saturate your image, you should use our Watercolour Paper, but you can still use the Archival Black Ink.

I tried LOTS of different colours on Bella (those are posts for other days), but I think my favourite is Soft Suede. Once you see all the other ones (over the next couple of weeks), I'd love for you to tell me what YOUR favourite is.

When I was done with Bella, I decided to play with Skittles:

How cute is that??

I started off with Dapper Denim again and added the layer of By The Shore DSP. Skittles was stamped in Archival Black Ink and coloured in using inks and the watercolour pen. The sentiment, stamped in Dapper Denim, is from Good Greetings (retired, sorry!)

I even made a little envie:

I gave the card to my honey and he thought it was so cute. I like leaving little notes on his home computer. I never know when he's going to find them, but when he does, he's always appreciative. Do you leave notes for your sweetie too?

What do you think?

Oh Happy 3-D Thursday!

Oh Happy Day! Wait till you see this!

I had SO much fun creating this little box set yesterday! I knew when I saw it, that I'd have to sit down and make it RIGHT AWAY. And then, I knew I had to show you! :)

Can you guess what it is??

How adorable is that? I love making covered notepads and this one just makes me smile! I wasn't sure I would like the little fishy paper, but it's so cute. And it has a "not fishy" side so you can use it with cards that don't involve fish. I particularly like the striped design that you see above in the belly band.

And then there's these! Tiny little simple note cards (they're just 3 x 4!) that can be used for a quick note or to jot down a thought...maybe a quick card sketch for your next blog post?

And here's the full set:

There's an empty space there as I haven't been back to school shopping and that's where the pencils go.

I think I'll make a couple more and drop of them off for the secretaries at my youngest son's school. Might as well get on their good side from the start.

You Light up my Life

When I saw the sketch for this week, I had a basic idea of what I wanted to create, but it took a while for it all to come together...

Just this past Monday, it was a holiday in Ontario and much of Canada as well. Now...my hubby doesn't usually have that day off at it's not a statutory holiday, but a civic holiday. This year (for the first time in a LONG time) he stayed home - YAY!!!

He went out to run some errands (most stores are open) and while he was gone, I created this:

I was SO happy with the way it turned out, I could hardly wait till today to share it with you!

I don't ever remember catching lightning bugs when I was little (probably because we lived in the city), but I always wished that I could...so this set is perfect! It lets me "catch" the lightning bugs without any of the "ick" factor (not so much a fan of bugs as I got older).

I try to tell him often how much he means to me and how much I love him, but on Monday I felt like doing a little bit "extra". It's our 25th wedding anniversary at the end of the month, so the "extra" seemed appropriate. :)

How about some details:
  • The card base is 5 ½" x 8 ½" and scored at 4 ¼"
  • The layer is 4" x 5 ¼" and is from the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack
  • The other DSP layer is 2 ¼" x 4" and is from the A Little Foxy DSP Stack
  • The Ribbon is Dapper Denim
  • The circles were cut using the Layering Circles Framelits
  • Our Sponge Daubers are *just* the right size for creating the "light" coming off the little lighting bug butts :)
  • The sentiment is actually hanging, as in for I didn't adhere it in any way - I just tied it to the jar handle
  • Linen Thread is *still* (after all these years being a demonstrator) one of my favourite ways to add "just a little bit" to a card
Don't forget to check out what the rest of the crew have been up to HERE.

It's a THROW DOWN!!

But just a colour one - aren't those the best?

I was checking my email this morning and came across the Colour Throwdown challenge. I was inspired by one of the cards created by the design team, so I whipped out my water pen and went a little nuts!

Check it out:

I was having so much fun that I went a little nuts and created SIX! Here are the details:

  • Thick Whisper White Cardstock, 5 ½" x 8 ½" scored at 4 ¼"
  • Peekaboo Peach (a new In Colour!) cut to 4 ⅜" x 3 ⅜"
  • Watercolour Paper cut to 4 ½" x 3 ¼"
  • Blushing Bride, Peekaboo Peach and So Saffron Ink/Re-inkers
  • Hello You Thinnest (hello sentiment, cut from Whisper White Cardstock)
  • Blushing Bride Bakers Twine
  • Wink of Stella (which may or may not have exploded on one of the cards - OOPS!)
If you'd like to receive one of these cards in the mail (Canada ONLY), head on over to my Facebook Page and follow the directions! :)

Hope it's AWESOME!

Do you have an expression? Like a favourite one? That you use A LOT?

For a while, mine was "That's SOOOOO CUTE!!!" Lately though, it's been "WOW! That's AWESOME!" And today's card reflects that. :)  I created it for my friend Jill's birthday (it was last week, so I'm not spoiling any surprises) and I sure hope she liked it!

Check it out:

I started off with a base of Sweet Sugarplum and added layers of Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper (same sheet, different side - I love that Stampin' UP! paper does that!). Then I cut out a tag and may or may not have gone a little crazy - LOL!

For Whisper White tag, I cut out a Sweet Sugarplum Swirl using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, stamped and punched out some Flower Shop flowers in Blushing Bride and Sweet Sugarplum and added a sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes (I love that set!) in Sweet Sugarplum.

I stacked it all up and added some ribbon and linen thread:

Do you have a favourite accessory? Like something that pretty much goes on ALL your cards? And sometimes you even try to find ways to add it to your cards? Mine would be the linen thread. I think I add it to every single order! I just LOVE that stuff!

And here's where the AWESOME comes in!

If you look closely at the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set, you'll notice that attached to the "hope it's" is an "an". In order to get the sentiment the way I wanted it, I just inked up the stamp and used my finger to wipe away the ink on the "an". Besides...as everyone knows, you haven't really been stamping if there's no ink on your fingers, right?

Don't forget to check out what the rest of the Crew have been up to!

Tag! You're It!

Oh wait! Wrong game...

Today over at the Paper Crafts Crew, we're playing Tic-Tac-Toe! I, of course, had to be an overachiever - LOL! So, I did a line down AND a line across. That counts as BINGO, right? :)

As you can see from the Tic-Tac-Toe board, I did the top row *and* the left column, combining babies, buttons, pastels, linen thread and die-cuts. And I couldn't be more thrilled with the results!

Take a look:

I started off with a base of the new Sweet Sugarplum Cardstock and added a layer of Blooms and Bliss - in pink this time! Aren't you glad I stopped bombarding you with the blue? At first glance (at least to me) the Sweet Sugarplum appeared to be more purple, but in this colour combination, I can definitely see the pink and I love it!

Sahara Sand and sponged Whisper White was next and then I stamped the sentiment from Happy Happenings in Sweet Sugarplum and stamped the onesie from Something for Baby in the same colour, stamping it off first. The tiny heart was stamped at full strength.

The finishing touch was the button (retired, sorry!) tied with linen thread and added under the sentiment.

I stamped and sponged on the inside too:

This is another one of those cards where I chuckled to myself because I was so pleased with what I created. :)

I have the most amazing friends!

This past weekend, I was at the Niagara Lavender Festival - it was...AMAZING! If you're in the area next July, I highly recommend it - especially if you love lavender!

While there, my friend Teresa was volunteering. I knew I'd get to see her, so it was great that she could bring my new Scentsy Bars with her (she's a Scentsy rep as well as an amazing SU! demonstrator). What I wasn't expecting was this:

The stamp set is retired (I kept mine too!) and this is what she wrapped up in it! How thoughtful is that? We both share a love of Paris, so she knew these magnets were right up my alley. :)

I was thinking of putting them on my fridge, but I think I'll buy a magnetic white board/cork board combo and put that near my work/craft space and then add the magnets to that.

I wish EVERYONE had a friend like Teresa! :)

Sketch, please!

So....I was surfing around the interwebz and found a new sketch by none other than one of my favourite designers/demonstrators, Angie! How cool is that??

This first sketch was pretty simple, but sometimes, simple is best:

I started off with a piece of 5 ½ x 8 ½" Very Vanilla Cardstock and folded it in half. Then I added a piece of 5 ¼" x 2" piece of This Christmas Specialty Designer Paper and stamped the image from Peace this Christmas. The finishing touch was a length of ¼" Natural Gold Trim.

The original sketch was horizontal, but once I got started, I couldn't stop! And I'm pretty sure I figured out which one is my favourite, but I'd like to hear from YOU! Which one is your favourite?

Let me know which card is your favourite in the comments below and I'll do a random draw from all the comments and send that person all FOUR cards pictured above. You'll have a head start on your Christmas cards and I'll have some more space to display MORE cards! Win-Win!

I can't wait!

Have you met Pootles?

Pootles (aka Sam Hammond) is an incredible fellow Stampin' UP! demonstrator from the UK. She makes the most incredible boxes - you should check her out!

She recently started a colour combo challenge on her blog and I decided to try it out. I didn't go the regular card route though...check it out:

I found these frames at the "M" store and I knew I wanted them...I just didn't know WHAT I was going to do with them - LOL!

When I decided to participate in Pootles' challenge, this little idea popped into my head and I thought it was just PERFECT!

The background piece is Whisper White and I cut out the pieces using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits in Pool Party and So Saffron. The little boat was stamped on Smoky Slate, So Saffron and Pool Party, but I stamped off all the images first so I could get a more muted look.

Here's a close up of the little boat. I used some Dazzling Details (retired, sorry!) to add a little punch to the image.

Hey! You!!

Happy Sunday everyone! Did you get to sleep in today? Or are you one of those people who just can't sleep in because your body just wakes up at crazy hours...like 6:30 a.m. on a Sunday?

Normally, I can sleep in a little bit (like say 8:30 or so) but since I normally get up at 6:30 during the week, sometimes that doesn't work out.

During July though, I'm always up super early because I love to watch the Tour de France! It starts airing at around 6:30 for about 5 hours. Yes, I actually watch bikes for about 5 hours. My family knows I love to watch and it's my uninterrupted knitting time. :)

While I'm watching the bikes, you can take a look at this:

Isn't it FABULOUS? I just LOVE the new Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper in this year's catalogue. You'll get to see it all in the video I have coming up on Tuesday. This paper makes it so quick and easy to create a card. You could even use the whole suite:

How amazing is that?? I love the stamping right onto the DSP using our Whisper White Craft Ink and heat embossing tool.

After I created the card above, I created a card for my upcoming Christmas in July class. Wanna see??

What? You didn't think I'd show you the WHOLE thing, did you? You'll have to come to class for that!

What's going on??

Have you even wondered what's going on over at Handstamped from the Heart and would like a handy reference so you can keep track? I've got just the ticket!

When you go to my business website at Stampin' UP! by clicking HERE, you'll see my name in the top right corner (make sure it's my name or it won't be a listing for my events) - I couldn't get everything in the screen cap - and a bar across the top of the page.

On that bar, there are several clickable links that will produce drop down menus, but if you just click on the main word (in this case EVENTS - circled in red), it will take you to a calendar where my current events are listed.

On the calendar, you'll see blank squares and coloured squares. The coloured squares indicate that an event is happening on that day and the colour will let you know what kind of even it is! In the example above, my June calendar, I have two events coloured in a sort of teal colour. The teal colour represents Open House events, where you can just drop in! Other colours designate classes or Stamp Clubs, etc.

Once you're on the event page for the current month, you can click on the arrows to either side of the month/year to see what I was up to or what I've got coming up! Easy peasy! At the bottom of each event listing (on the left) is an RSVP button - click that to let me know you're coming!

I hope you'll join me for an upcoming class or open house - I'd love to stamp with you!

HA! That's so PUNNY!

For this weeks Retro Sketches, I had a few options on my creative table. This one just cracked me up! Hey! Don't judge me...maybe I just need some more sleep...or maybe I've been spending too much time with my father in law - that man loves his puns!

Check it out:

SO many layers going on here! It would take me three days to measure and get back to you on actual sizes...so you'll just have to use your best judgement and eyeball it. The card is a standard 4 ¼" x 5 ½" card base, so that should give you a starting point.

The Designer Series Paper comes from (you guessed it!) Blooms & Bliss (are you sensing a theme??). I used both sides of the same paper again.

The image from Pun Intended (a hostess exclusive) was stamped in Island Indigo. Then, I used some Daffodil Delight and my water pen and VERY carefully drew some "light" around the bulb. You have to be careful because Island Indigo is not water resistant and if you get the water too close, you'll end up with green instead of yellow.

I wrapped the image panel with Crushed Curry baker's twine before adhering it to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I think I'll give it to my hubby...just because...but also because he's his father's son...and while he doesn't use as many puns as his dad does, he's getting there! Old age should be a blast - LOL!
