It's Wednesday! That must mean STAMPIN' QUEENS!
Welcome to Wednesday and Stampin' Queens Sketch Day! I took a few liberties with the sketch, but I like the way it turned out!
Here's the sketch:
And here's my take on it:
You CAN see the similarities, can't you? It's not way out in left field is it?
I started off with a base of Not Quite Navy and added three strips of paper from the Well Worn pack of Designer Series Paper using some So Saffron brads along the way.
Then I stamped the long leaf from Gently Falling in Cajun Craze and Tangerine Tango. The sentiment was stamped in Cajun Craze on Very Vanilla and punched out using the Decorative Label Punch.
What do you think?
STAMPS: Gently Falling, Day of Gratitude
INK: Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango
PAPERS: Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze and Not Quite Navy Cardstock; Well Worn DSP
ACCESSORIES: Stampin' Dimensionals, Punch, Brads

Another Founders Circle CASE
...sort of...
On the last day of Founders Circle, the demonstrators in attendance received a most beautiful purse charm with which I absolutely fell in love. Not being in attendance myself, I didn't get one. However, I went about trying to figure out how to make my own.
Patty Bennett was ALSO there and she ALSO now knows the "Patty Bennett" story (how MORTIFYING!), but I feel like we know each other now - LOL, so when she talked about making the purse charm as a CLASS, I emailed her and asked her if she had any insight into making one since I have ZERO jewelry experience. She gave me some tips and tricks and I was on my way!
This past Thursday, I was "working" (read: looking at Founders Circle swaps, having lunch AND ice cream - PUMPKIN from Ed's Real Scoop and it's AWESOME, btw, shopping for beads, walking the dog...you get the idea) and we decided to go shopping for beads and what-not. OH. MY. GOSH. The things we found at Beadworks were A. MA. ZING. I could have got lost in there for HOURS and spent a butt load of money, but I restrained myself...of course, we're going back this week - oh geez!
We went back to the studio with beads (and tools for me!) and I couldn't wait, so I got started right away. On my way home, I stopped at a "big box" store and picked up a few more things including...are you ready for this? Inspire, Create, Share pieces - REALLY!
Here's what I ended up with:
I want to add some SU! baubles to it of course, but this is what I have so far. And off to the bottom left, that's a "C". I forgot to flip it around. Top right is one of the SU! keys that you can purchase here.
Here's a card made with the Trinket Crowns (which are also adorable!):
I have to order those and add one to my purse charm too!
And, while I was making it (and looking at the extra two words on the card with the Inspire, Create, Share - they are Wish and Believe), I was suddenly struck with the idea that I should make a bracelet for a dear friend that I visited this past Friday. She received this:
Not bad for a first try...
I do hope you enjoyed this little break from stamping! Don't worry though...it's not like I'm giving up THAT hobby - LOL!

It's time for the Stampin' Queens!
Here's our sketch:
And here's my take on it:
My apologies for the poor photography. I still haven't replaced my camera. At this rate, I think I'll just get myself a little point and shoot. It can't POSSIBLY be any worse than my iPhone - ARGH!!!
My base is Cherry Cobbler and I distressed most of the layers. The image is stamped using a stamp in the Pines and Poinsettias set found in the Holiday Mini. I added some pearl detail, but you can't really see it because of the glare (again, my apologies).
You can check out the rest of the designers by visiting the challenge blog. And from there you can play along and create your own version of the sketch!
What do you think?
STAMPS: Pines and Poinsettias
INK: Cherry Cobbler
PAPERS: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla Cardstock; Early Espresso DSP
ACCESSORIES: Stampin' UP! cutter kit (to distress the edges), Punches, Seam Binding

Freshly Made Sketches - African Lion
It's week two (OK, it's ALMOST week 3) over at Freshly Made Sketches and I'm getting in JUST. UNDER. THE. WIRE. before they close the linking tool - YIKES!!!
Here's my lion for this week:
I stamped him at the same time that I stamped the Giraffe from the same set for this card while I had my hands on the set so generously lent by my Caroline.
My lion was stamped on Watercolour Paper using Staz-On ink and then coloured using the watercolour crayons and aqua painters.
He's matted on a piece of Chocolate Chip and then onto a piece of Bashful Blue before being added to the Sahara Sand Base.
What do you think? (and please forgive the poor photography!)
STAMPS: Zoo Review
INK: Staz-On
PAPERS: Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue Cardstock; Watercolour Paper
ACCESSORIES: Watercolour crayons, Aqua Painters, Ribbon

Founder's Circle Case
OK, so on Facebook, I have "lists" for certain friends...scrapbooking, heart families, and my FAVOURITE list: STAMPING FREAKS!!!! Most of my "stamping freaks" are at Founder's Circle this week and the pictures I've been seeing are just TO. DIE. FOR. The theme this year is "tea time" and everything is very vintage - I love it! It's a good thing I can live vicariously through all my friends!
Today, the "chosen ones" (heehee!) get to see a live performance of the Little Mermaid in a canyon setting (can you IMAGINE?), so last night for pillow gifts they got a bucket of popcorn, a bunch of typical theatre type candy and this card (this is my version):
I just HAD to CASE it!!! I'm pretty sure I got all the colours right (at least I hope I did!). I used Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White.
I stamped the sentiment twice, once in Tempting Turquoise (punched with the large oval) and again in Real Red (punched with the scalloped oval). I matted it all on a piece of Real Red that I cut out using the Movers and Shapers Die and the Punch Windows. The Punch Windows are GREAT because they allow you to mat punches that don't have a larger size, like the scalloped oval that I used. There's also a Modern Label Punch, a Heart and a Star in the set.
What do you think?
STAMPS: Oval All
INKS: Tempting Turquoise, Real Red
PAPERS: Whisper White, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise Cardstock
ACCESSORIES: Movers and Shapers Die, Punch Windows, Triple Layer Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Basic Rhinestones

A different kind of watercolour using Gently Falling
So, I FINALLY got to play with my pre-order last week after the kids went back to school. How has it been for you? I tell you...I am LOVING my quiet days!!
So, it's Stampin' Queens Sketch Day again and I used the sketch to create this:
To start off, I was inspired by one of the other Stampin' Queens cards as well as the sketch. I liked the centre panel and I wanted to do something similar, but I wanted to use Gently Falling. I took out my watercolour paper and spritzed it with water BEFORE stamping - you can see that I spritzed in some spots more than others - LOL! I think it's kind of a neat effect, don't you?
I used Soft Suede, River Rock, Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party which are the colours that are Spice Cake DSP.
As you can see, I went just little nuts with the paper piercer. Heehee!!
OK, for the measurements:
- Card Base - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
- Next layer up - Pool Party Cardstock, cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8"
- Next layer up - Spice Cake DSP, cut to 4 x 5 1/4"
- Soft Suede Panels - 2 x 3" (they meet in the middle, but you can't tell)
- Main Image Panel - 2 3/4 x 4", matted with a piece of 2 7/8" x 4 1/8" Pool Party
- Pear Pizzazz Piece - 1 1/2 x 3" with rounded corners
Here's the sketch for this week, if you'd like to give it a try:

Freshly Made Sketches - Have a Seat
There's ANOTHER new sketch blog in town! As many of you already know, a few short weeks ago, I began on the design team for the Stampin' Queens, headed up by the lovely and talented Cristena Bagne. I'm having SO much fun playing with the Stampin' Queens and continue to post my cards (along with the sketch) every Wednesday.
The other day, I was browsing around the internet (no, REALLY? LOL!) and came across Freshly Made Sketches. The premise behind this new sketch blog is that the designs be "clean", though not necessarily "simple". So, no shabby chic, no distressing, no spritzer-tooling (is that even a WORD?) ...you get the idea.
Of course, I had to try my hand at it and this is the card I designed:
I started off with an Early Espresso Base and then added layers of Cajun Craze and Well Worn Designer Series Paper.
My hubby says that his first thought when he saw the card was that it looked like an electric chair...that man has a pretty sick sense of humour - LOL!
I stamped the image using my "Have A Seat" set and Soft Suede Ink. My embellishment is one of the new SUPER HUGE Spice Cake Buttons found in the Holiday Mini. I used one in my upcoming card for the Stampin' Queens (this Wednesday), so you'll have to come back and see it then.
Here's the actual sketch if you'd like to try it too:
What do you think?
STAMPS: Have A Seat, Best Dad Ever (sentiment)
INK: Soft Suede
PAPER: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze Cardstock; Well Worn DSP
ACCESSORIES: Buttons, Ribbon, Marker (for doodling) and Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamping with the Operators at Stamping 411
I had some paper picked out (Spice Cake) and card bases (Pool Party), but I didn't know in which direction I wanted to go, so I just left it for a couple of days.
Then yesterday, I was on Facebook and Tiffany Bauer posted the sketch for today's Stamping 411 and I had one of those "a-ha" moments where you go, "A-HA! That's it! I know just what to do!" And I came up with this:
And aren't you lucky...because once again, YOU get to see the card that only my team usually gets to see on a monthly basis!
So...I started off with a Pool Party base and some Spice Cake Designer Series Paper. I was just going to put the DSP on the card base, but then decided to add a layer of Very Vanilla and I think that was just the trick!
A piece of Early Espresso (even though it LOOKS black) for contrast on the bottom and some Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon to hide the seam was JUST the ticket!
The image panel was cut to 2 1/2 x 3 1/2" (Very Vanilla) and the DSP was cut to 2 3/8 x 3 3/8". I added a 2 3/8" scalloped circle punch under the two leaves which I HAND CUT (yes, I'm that awesome - heehee!).
The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla and punched with the word window punch. It was matted on a piece of Early Espresso punched with the Modern Label Punch.
What do you think??
STAMPS: Gently Falling, Teeny Tiny Wishes
INK: Soft Suede, More Mustard
PAPER: Very Vanilla and Pool Party Cardstock; Early Espresso Textured Cardstock; Spice Cake DSP

It's time for another Stampin' Queen's Sketch!
Happy Wednesday my friends! It's time for another Stampin' Queens Sketch!
Here it is:
This one gave a me a little bit of trouble, but through perseverance (and consulting DH), I think I'm happy with it.
Here's my first try:
I just didn't know what was wrong (or what was bugging me), so I consulted DH and he said, "Everything is long, it needs another angle".
So I did this:
And while I don't think it's my BEST work, I'm certainly happier with it!
Which one do you prefer?
The focal image is watercoloured (of course! LOL!) using the Watercolour Crayons and Aqua Painters. The image is from Zoo Review, which I borrowed from my upline. She earned it for FREE as part of her rewards for recruiting and first level promotions during 2010-2011. I love that Stampin' UP! rewards us with this awesome goodness!!
STAMPS: Zoo Review

PAPER: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Early Espresso; Watercolour Paper
